boxing day in Britain

Boxing day is a usually celebrated on the following day after Christmas, which is 26 december. In Oxford English Dictionary, Boxind day is the first weekday after Christmas. In Britain, Boxing day is a public holiday. If the boxing day is on Sunday, the following day, Monday will be holiday, too. It is called boxing day because Traditionally, 26 December was the day to open the Christmas Box to share the contents with the poor.

Christmas Box is a wooden or clay container where people placed gifts. The gifts are usually given for poor people.
